Back in early November 2023, Disney+ began its password-sharing crackdown but only in Canada. Clearly following Netflix's footsteps, the company now has a deadline to go global, according to sources.

There isn't any official statement yet by Disney, but sources say that several Hulu users, which is also part of the Disney+ platform have gotten emails about it. The deadline for the password-sharing crackdown is scheduled for 14 March 2024 with the keyword "adding limitations on sharing your account outside of your household" mentioned in it.

Another media asked Disney about the email and the company is serious. So as a whole, Disney+ alongside Hulu will start restricting users from sharing their passwords with friends and family outside of their households. We don't know how will this affect Disney+ Hotstar users in Asian countries, but more information will be provided by company officials soon.

For context, Disney+ Hotstar users in Malaysia have to pay RM54.90 for three months (that's the only option) and only two users can use the account at the same time even if one of them is outside of the household. However, the two users cannot watch the same show at the same time. Recently, Disney+ Hotstar has increased the number of members per account with up to seven customisable profiles.
