If you were planning to lug your drone to a new year's countdown tonight, time to cancel that plan. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has declared that action will be taken against anyone found flying a drone during the new year's celebrations expected to be held in various parts of the country tonight. In addition, you will probably lose your drone if caught.

According to Bernama, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim (police chief of Kuala Lumpur police chief) said that the use of drones will not be allowed and any found flying near areas of celebration will be taken down. Specifically, the police will deploy a special team carrying devices that can jam or kill a drone. From the description, it'll be something that can disrupt the flight of a drone.

Best not to risk potential damage to your drone, or get in trouble with the authorities!

Major areas where people are expected to visit this evening include Dataran Merdeka, Putrajaya Corporation Complex, KLCC, Pavillion Shopping Centre, Sunway Velocity Cheras, Jinjang Utara Public Field and Solaris Publika. There will be a lot of people in such places and the police want to avoid any accidents caused by drones crashing due to collision in the air.
