If your phone runs out of battery at the airport, don't continue to charge it using a public USB port. Surprised? This is what the USA Transportation Security Agency said.

For your information, the US Transportation Security Agency (TSA) has issued a warning that such ports can be used by hackers to insert malware into phones through a technique known as “ juice jacking .”

The TSA advises that users use their own power bank or a secure wall charger. This warning is similar to advice from the FBI and FCC that has been issued previously.

The TSA also advises the public not to use public Wi-Fi connections for online shopping, as these connections are easily hacked and can expose personal information.

Is Malaysia affected?

To recap, we mentioned this phenomenon before. Fast forward 2 years later, we are still not sure if this applies to Malaysia. After all, the Malaysian authorities have yet to comment or release any statement on the news.

But to be safe, we would advise everyone to bring their own power banks or charge their phone fully at home.
