Doogee has released its latest rugged smartphone lineup for the global market, the Doogee S89 Series consisting of the S89 and S89 Pro. Featuring a whopping 12,000mAh battery, the company claims that the smartphone can be used actively for up to 5 days on a single charge.
Unsurprisingly, Doogee is targeting travellers, long-haul drivers, hardcore campers and off-grid dwellers with the rugged phone. However, regular users who want a super long-lasting battery would also benefit from the S89 Series as a single charge is also touted to give you 16 hours of gaming, 18 hours of streaming and more.
Specs of the S89 Pro
Despite the massive battery, the S89 Series is relatively light at 400 grams, though its case is kind of thick at 19.4mm. The S89 Pro is also notable for being the first rugged smartphone to feature 65W fast charging which is capable of fully recharging the 12,000mAh battery from zero within 2 hours. Meanwhile, the S89 has a lower fast charging rate of 33W.
As you can expect from a Doogee rugged phone, the S89 Series comes with IP68 and IP69K ratings and the latest MIL-STD-810H certifications. This essentially makes them water, dust, and shockproof and perfect for extreme and harsh environments.
Specs of the S89
Under the hood, both the S89 and S89 Pro are powered by the MediaTek Helio P90 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. Storage-wise, the S89 is offered at 128GB, while the S89 Pro is offered at 256GB.
As for the screen, both feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD DotDisplay with Corning Gorilla Glass and a water drop notch to house a 16MP selfie camera. Speaking of which, the S89 Series also feature a 48MP main + 20MP night vision + 8MP wide-angle & micro camera triple-camera setup at its rear.
Another unique thing about the S89 Series is its RGB light effect marketed as “breathing light”. It is a backlight similar to the Nothing Phone (1) but with more customisation options, functions, and colours. In fact, users can practically customise everything from light colours, patterns, and speed.
Other notable features include NFC, Android 12 OS, reverse charging, custom button, side fingerprint, dual SIM global band and colour options of either black or yellow. The S89 is priced at USD399.99 or ~RM1795 while the S89 Pro is sold at USD459.99 or ~RM2064.
