Dubai's flying taxi is expected to arrive by the end of next year with its flights departing from four main locations in the city. This is a very interesting progress. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, the futuristic transport service offering is the result of a collaboration between the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, JOBY Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure. It will also see Dubai become the first city in the world to have intra-city air transport.
In addition, it has been confirmed that the first four vertiports (which allow taxis to take off and land vertically) will be located at Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah. The first of these four locations will begin operations in early 2026.
Moreover, the journey between DXB (Dubai International Airport) and Palm Jumeirah will take about 10 minutes with this air transport compared to the 45 minutes it currently takes by ground vehicle. The flight height of this flying taxi will be between 1,000 and 3,000 feet in the air. At its later launch, there will probably only be a few of these flying taxis, but JOBY Aviation says they plan to have a fleet of around 100 flying taxis in operation.
