Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a The Rock) was cast to portray the DC villain Black Adam back in 2014 and the production has been delayed for some reason. But today, Dwayne has finally posted a concept poster on Instagram revealing the upcoming DC movie will be in theaters on 22 December 2021

The fictional supervillain is the enemy of Shazam in the comic. After the movie ‘Shazam’ was released this year, it was well acclaimed by both critics and viewers. DC has also started to go with the direction of releasing solo movie rather than a connected universe like ‘Justice League’, which has disappointed the DC fans.

Black Adam, with his given name Teth-Adam, was born in 13th-century-Egypt. After growing up, he was chosen to receive the power of Shazam because of his presumed moral purity. However, the hero became a villain after being corrupted by the vastness of his powers and decided to rule the world. He was later renamed as Black Adam and banished by Shazam to the most distant star in the universe.

The story of this upcoming DC villain movie might focus on depicting the stories on either how he is going to make a comeback to the modern age to challenge the new Shazam, or what Black Adam has done in the ancient times. It is not clear which direction the movie would lead us to.

After its successful blockbuster movies like Aquaman and Joker being released this year, the DC Extended Universe has made its future brighter than ever. We definitely can’t wait to see more movies from the universe and challenge the massive success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
