EA announced it will lay off 5% of its total workforce

Recently, big conglomerates and tech giants have joined the trend in laying off their workers. Today, EA (Electronic Arts) have joined the fray. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, EA is notorious for various various popular sports such as FC24, F124 (Coming soon), the NFL24 and so forth. In an effort to continue optimising their business operations. EA became the second video game company to announce layoffs this week, after Sony announced the same for its PlayStation division.

According to EA, they will lay off 5% of the workforce. This will affect 670 employees. In addition to firing employees, EA announced that they will end certain games and may not develop a new IP that is expected to be less successful.

With this move, EA will focus more on some of the main IPs they own. That includes sports and also on-line communities. We have yet to confirm other details or how this will affect Malaysians. However, we could expect interesting news out of EA soon.
