The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) has reminded Malaysians to be wary of fraudulent ads using its name and iterated that it has NEVER offered any loan schemes to EPF members. This is following ads circulating on social media from irresponsible quarters offering personal loan schemes using EPF's name.

Taking to its official Facebook page, EPF warned its members to not fall for such a scam. Moreover, the statutory body also said that the public should only get information regarding EPF from its official website as well as social media accounts.

In the post, EPF shared a poster with an image of the fraudulent ad claiming that it is offering an ‘EPF loan scheme’. The ad also claims to be able to provide loans now and the public can pay later when withdrawing from EPF, which is a telltale sign of a scam.

Another obvious sign that the ad is a scam is how it writes WhatsApp as ‘Whatapps’, a grammatical error that official EPF channels wouldn’t likely make. Should you come across such ads, make sure to not click on the link or worse, key in your details inside the website as it is likely a phishing site.

So guys, please stay vigilant and always double-check the website or email that you are interacting with. Remember to always stay safe and make sure to thoroughly research a website before accessing it or worse, sharing personal information!
