EPG, a Singapore-based modular data centre provider with a factory in Johor Bahru, has just received BOMBA certification from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department. So, what should you know about it?
One of the first manufacturers to achieve it
For your information, this certification makes EPG among the first manufacturers to meet mandatory fire safety requirements in Malaysia. This move will not only accelerate the implementation of modular systems in the country, but also strengthen Malaysia's position as a regional hub for data centre technology, particularly in the areas of AI, cloud and large-scale infrastructure.
Moreover, FIRE certification is an essential compliance requirement for any data centre or critical infrastructure equipment entering the Malaysian market. This approval confirms that EPG's module solutions meet local fire safety regulations and Malaysian Standards (MS), in addition to internationally recognised ISO standards.
EPG is currently developing a smart factory worth RM380 million, which is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2026. The factory will provide 40,000 m² of production space, employ over 800 skilled workers, produce over 2000 modular units per year, and support a data centre project capacity of up to 550 MW.
With BOMBA certification, units manufactured by EPG in Malaysia can be exported to Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, thus increasing customer confidence in the safety and reliability of EPG solutions.
