Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli today announced the KitaJaga app, a community-driven platform which allows consumers in our country to check and compare prices of groceries. Part of his Ministry’s effort to empower consumers’ decision-making, users can check on the prices of groceries based on their location.

As reported by Malay Mail, the app uses open-source data from OpenDOSM. A collaborative effort between the Economy Ministry with KitaJaga who developed the application, it is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Rafizi elaborated that his Ministry will start with groceries since most price hikes are focused on this category. In the future, it will be expanded to other categories for consumers.

He further revealed that KitaJaga developed the app voluntarily. Furthermore, the Economy Ministry is planning to work together with other e-commerce stakeholders to expand existing price-checking potential.
