Elmina plane crash - MCMC warns Netizens to not share videos of the accident, will take strict actions

Today, MCMC warned netizens to not share images or videos about the Elmina plane crash. This was done to respect the sensitivity of the deceased families and to prevent misinformation. MCMC also warned that sharing these media will breach the principles and ethics of the Internet.

The accident involved 10 victims, including 2 pilots, 6 passengers and 2 road users. It was reported that the plane was on its way to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Airport following its departure from Langkawi. In addition, MCMC reminds everyone to respect the sensitivity of the deceased and their families.

Those who are found guilty of sharing videos or images of the plane crash will be convicted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588). That could lead to a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for not more than one year or both.
