DeepSeek has been the hottest topic in AI news recently, but there's bigger news in the spotlight this week. Not content with owning Twitter (now X) and potentially buying TikTok, Elon Musk now wants to buy OpenAI too.
According to the Wall Street Journal (via Engadget), a group of investors led by Elon Musk wants to acquire OpenAI Inc, the nonprofit that controls OpenAI Global. The group has launched a bid of USD97.4 billion (~RM435.37 billion) to buy the company yesterday. Allegedly, the group's goal is to return OpenAI to the "open-source, safety-focused force for good it once was."
no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want

OpenAI hasn't made an official statement as a company, but Sam Altman isn't keen on the idea. In an X post, the OpenAI CEO responded with: "No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want". Anyway, the goal of the acquisition is likely to boost xAI or perhaps do away with the competition.
As of the time of writing, there was no news of whether OpenAI plans to accept the bid. Do you think Musk will succeed? Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for further updates.
