Owning a 9.2 percent share of Twitter is not enough for Elon Musk, as the world's richest person has offered $43 billion (~RM181 billion) to purchase the social media company completely today. The news came from Musk himself through a tweet attaching the link to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The filing lets us know that Musk has offered $54.20 per share in cash, a premium of about 20 percent over today's opening price. "I am offering to buy 100 percent of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54 percent premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38 percent premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced," said Musk in the filing. He has also stated that it's his "best and final offer".

Furthermore, Musk is determined to transform Twitter into a private company by believing in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe. "Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it." It's said that the company has confirmed receipt of Musk's offer and is "reviewing the proposal to determine the course of action that it believes is in the best interest of the Company and all Twitter stockholders."
