Elon Musk, founder of xAI Holdings—the company behind Grok and the social media platform X—criticised Apple’s App Store practices, alleging the company favours OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

What happened

Musk claimed that Apple’s approach makes it “impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store,” calling it “an unequivocal antitrust violation.” He announced that xAI will take immediate legal action.

Musk also questioned why X and Grok aren’t featured in Apple’s “Must Have” section, despite their high rankings. Currently, ChatGPT holds the top spot among free apps, while Grok sits at number five.

OpenAI launched GPT?5 on August 7, 2025, positioning it as a major milestone in AI development—one that brings enhanced reasoning, safer outputs, coding prowess, more user control, and broader accessibility.

However, early critiques suggest the improvements may be more incremental than transformative. Did this news catch your attention? Stay tuned for more news like this at TechNave!
