English live captions now available to all YouTube channels

If you watch a lot of YouTube videos, you probably know how unreliable the auto-captioning feature is. It's not available on all channels and doesn't even caption in English most of the time. Fortunately, YouTube has an update to solve this.

YouTube has confirmed that all channels will now have live auto-captioning in English. In case you didn't know, this feature was previously limited to channels with more than 1000 subscribers. It will also be available for the 13 other languages supported by the platform in the coming months. YouTube is also planning to add auto-translation for captions on mobile, which will be available to all supported languages as well.

Besides updating live-captioning, YouTube announced two other accessibility features - multiple audio tracks and captions searching on mobile. The first feature allows users to add multiple audio tracks to videos, which is useful for creators who have an international audience. As for the latter, it would probably be handy for people who like making clips of their favourite content creators.

If you want more details, do check the official announcement. With that said, have you seen the new update on YouTube yet? If you have, share your thoughts about it so far, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
