If you frequently use Instagram, this news might catch your interest. The same people who founded Instagram also founded Artifact. But that is not the end of it, they are shutting down the app soon. But, why?

For your information, Artifact is a news app that was launched less than a year ago. The app runs an AI-centric feature, posting and commenting features like Reddit. Reportedly, reporters love the app for its reporter-friendly approach. For instance, the author pages. While the app has a short life, it has been featured prominently in Apple and Google’s app stores.

In addition, the founders have faced similar problems that other buzzy news apps faced before them. Ultimately, they feel the issues are too overwhelming to warrant more effort put into it. According to Kevin Systrom, the app will still be online through the end of February. However, the commenting and posting features are disabled.
