Exynos 2500 chipset to have 3.3GHz Cortex-X5 cores

Every year, Samsung launches a new flagship Exynos chipset and many would wonder "Is this the year?" We don't know if the Exynos 2400 is 'it' quite yet. But Samsung clearly isn't giving up on developing Exynos chips because the Exynos 2500 is already in the works.

For those unaware, rumours of the Exynos 2500 actually popped up back in May 2023. According to @OreXda (via Wccftech), Samsung is dubbing its next chipset the "Samsung Dream Chip". It'll feature specs similar to the Exynos 2400, such as the 10-core pro, but feature new Cortex-X5 and Cortex-A730 CPU cores. In other words, the Exynos 2500 should show a notable increase in CPU performance.

Besides that, the Exynos 2500 will be manufactured on a 3nm GAA process. In theory, a new process should result in a drastic improvement in power efficiency. Of course, that's not always guaranteed. The tipster revealed that clock speeds for the new chipset's CPU cores are similar to the Exynos 2400. As such, how power-efficient the Exynos 2500 ends up being probably depends entirely on the power efficiency of the 3nm process, as well as how much power its CPU and GPU draws.

Overall, it does sound like the Exynos 2500 would be a much better chip than its predecessor. But it's hard to say whether it will make Samsung fans stop preferring Snapdragon 8 series chipsets.
