Exynos chipsets could be rebranded and make a comeback with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series

There was a time when Samsung would launch a new Galaxy S series, and fans would groan on hearing 'Exynos'. Despite Exynos lagging behind its competition for years, Samsung doesn't want to give up on it. In fact, Exynos chipsets might make a comeback next year.

According to a post on X (via Wccftech), Samsung could opt for a rebranded Exynos 2600 chipset for next year's Galaxy S26 series. The Exynos 2600 is Samsung's next flagship Exynos chipset, which is expected to enter mass production in May. However, Samsung only achieved a 30% yield for the 2nm design in a trial production run, so the company could need time to stockpile the chips for a new device.

Interestingly, the source also said Samsung wants to drop the use of Snapdragon chipsets for its entire 2026 lineup of devices. Another source said that chip volume would be so limited that the situation would be similar to the Exynos 990, which featured in the 2020-launched Galaxy S20 FE. With that in consideration, Samsung could limit the use of its new flagship chip to a specific Galaxy S26 series device.

Since there's no official news, we can't confirm anything yet. But for Samsung's rebranded flagship chipset to be the de facto chipset in Samsung devices, it has to at least be on par with the Snapdragon Elite series. What do you think?
