Facebook and Instagram are now finally offering the option that lets you hide the like counts. It has actually been a long time since we first heard about the feature in 2019. After years of tests and pressure, the social media platforms will now be rolling out the option after almost two years.

You are now able to toggle an option to hide all like counts on all posts in your feed on both Instagram and Facebook. There's also a separate option that lets you hide all your posts' like counts to others or even hide them on a per-post basis. For now, the per-post option is only available on Instagram but it's expected to make its appearance on Facebook in the next few weeks.

A 2017 study by the Royal Society for Public Health UK has claimed that Instagram is one of the services that is detrimental to young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Experts have suggested that removing the like button and like counts could help reduce anxiety and social pressures for some users.
