Facebook and Instagram launched a new feature to support local businesses!

Untitled-2.jpgBusinesses have been impacted thoroughly since the beginning of movement control order (MCO), especially on local businesses. Recently, Facebook and Instagram have launched a new tool respectively to aid local businesses via gift cards to direct people to local businesses and purchase them through third-party partner sites.

Facebook is now testing a feature called ‘Support Local Businesses’ allowing the public to be able to access gift cards from participating merchants in their cities through the Facebook page. The value of the gift cards will be shared through Facebook’s partners, Fave and StoreHub, and minus their transaction fee with the participating merchant.

As for Instagram, businesses can add a gift card sticker to their Instagram stories and a button for their business profile page. The new gift card stickers will allow users and customers to tap through it when they encounter the Instagram stories from the business profiles to complete a purchase on the website of the chosen platform. 

Facebook Malaysia country director Nicole Tan said the new tool was introduced to support businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and hope to provide a means for people to share and support their local businesses with ease.
