Today, Facebook announced that they are introducing a new Group Type for Parenting on their platform. What does this mean? Well, being a parent isn't easy and it can be isolating at times when you don't know who to turn to especially in this pandemic period. With Parenting Group Type, the aim is to allow parents to discover the right communities to make it safer and easier to engage with them.
According to the company, admins from certain parenting groups will be able to unlock Parenting Group Type when opening a post. From there, three new features will appear which are promptly called Anonymous Post, Badging and Mentorship. Depending on which method the parent(s) would like to take, they can have a safe space to speak personally, identify important matters, or sharing advice with others.
As the name suggests, Anonymous Post will allow parents to talk freely about sensitive topics without revealing their identity. This is a pretty smart move especially in this Asian region where such discussions are rarely practised in our culture. So if you're too "ashamed" to share something, you don't need to any more such as financial difficulties, or dealing a loss of a child.
Then for Badging, Parents can select several options from 'New Parent' to 'Expecting Parent' to find the right community and get connected. Finally, Mentorship is the last feature where parenting group admins can create online to match mentors and mentees together. From there, the two parties can share their parenting journey together.
According to Facebook Malaysia, there are more than 800,000 active parents in a few active parenting groups on Facebook. If you're a parent yourself or knows a friend who needs this, share this news with them. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
