Facebook reportedly to be developing a "TLDR" tool for readers who don't want to read long articles

In the age of the Internet, we are bombarded with a ton of information here and there. Sometimes, we just don't want to read another essay after our work at the end of the day so Facebook is planning to release a "TLDR" tool for this.

Buzzfeed senior tech reporter, Ryan Mac already listened to an audio record and said that Facebook is already developing an AI assistant tool under the codename "TLDR" (lol) and it would put the summarized news in bullet point forms. It's said that the tool might have an audio narration and a voice assistant to answer. This might be good news to casual readers, but not so much for media news outlet who rely on visitors for revenue.

This was just recently announced at a year-end meeting by Mark Zuckerberg, where an audio record was broadcasted to all the Facebook employees. Despite this news, Facebook spokesperson Liz Bourgeois has no comment about this when asked by Buzzfeed. Besides that, the company is also working on other AI technologies that can "self-train" to detect hate speech and misinformation.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this as an online writer. But what do you folks think? Do we really need a "TLDR" tool for this? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
