In this era of misinformation, it could be very easy to mislead others who can't differentiate between photoshopped images and reality. With that said, you might want to pay attention to the latest feature for Google’s Fact Check Explorer. We heard that it might come in handy.

During the Global Fact 10 Conference, Google released this feature as part of its effort in combating misinformation and false data. This feature will allow users to upload any desired image and they will be notified if the picture has been analyzed by fact-checkers in the past. According to the Software Engineer at Google Research, Avneesh Sud:

“At Google, we support this effort by developing tools and resources to aid people in assessing information online. We’re dedicated to helping people identify misinformation online and supporting fact-checking and those who do it for the long term."

But that is not all, the latest feature could also provide users with contextual information and the timeline from when the image is created. That’s a pretty neat addition, as this would not only provide a better source of knowledge but also helps us keep up with the current memes and trends.

However, users should keep in mind that this feature is still in beta. As of the time of writing, Google is preoccupied with the new Global Fact Check Fund. It is a collaboration between Google and 35 fact-checking organizations spread across 45 countries, in an attempt to thwart false information worldwide.
