
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has revealed that his Ministry will be giving priority to the implementation of internet connection in Budget 2025, which is set to be tabled on 18 October. Furthermore, the focus will be on implementing Internet services in schools and campuses.
According to Bernama, Fahmi said that the priority includes remote areas, interiors and islands. This is to ensure access to high-end Internet access that is more widespread including at educational institutions in the country through the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The Communications Minister added that the programme will assist in equipping as many schools as possible with Wifi. He referenced the Point of Presence (PoP) programme which has already included high-speed internet connection in the interiors.
Besides that, Fahmi said his Ministry will also focus on improving access to the Internet on public university campuses. This was suggested by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who urged to focus on solving the problem of Internet on campus, especially in public universities.
