Fahmi Fadzil: 5G network coverage in Selangor has reached 95.9%

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has revealed that the 5G network coverage in the state of Selangor has reached 95.9 per cent as of December 2023. Lauding the coverage percentage as excellent, Fahmi however said that 5G’s advantages have yet to be utilised fully in the state.

As reported by Bernama, the Communications Minister said that this was according to feedback received from telecommunications companies. Accordingly, Fahmi alongside Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will continue to engage with industry players, especially in industry areas to make the best of the 5G facilities. 

The Communications Minister added that his Ministry alongside the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) efforts to ensure the effective rollout of the 5G network nationwide should be welcomed by all parties, especially industry players. He also urged them to transition from 4G to 5G as the latter’s interconnection capability can reach around 1000 devices in a single connection.
