Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today revealed that some companies which procured internet development and upgrade projects from the Government have been found to sell the projects to third parties. However, he added that these instances were made before he or Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching took charge of the Ministry.

According to Bernama, Fahmi didn’t disclose the locations or names of the companies involved but stressed that it is the responsibility of these companies to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe. The Communications Minister further revealed that he has tasked his team to look into the matter as the Ministry doesn’t want any delays to the projects.

Fahmi said the issue involves companies awarded projects in several areas but failed to implement them, forcing the ministry to issue the strongest warnings.  The Communications Minister asserted that some companies admitted to having sold the projects to other parties, raising questions about how the original companies had secured these projects.
