Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today stressed that the government will assert its firm stance to uphold the nation’s policies with social media platform provider X (formerly Twitter). This is after X changed its terms to allow users to post pornographic content.

According to Bernama, Fahmi, who is also the Unity Government’s spokesperson said that X’s actions clearly violated Malaysian laws and were unacceptable. Accordingly, the government will extend its firm stance and our country’s national policy to X.

The Communications Minister further asserted that he believed MCMC COO Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus would ensure that all platforms, not just X, understand that certain activities are not tolerated on these platforms. These include online gambling, dissemination of pornographic materials, and other prohibited content as per our national laws.
