Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has assured that telcos participating in Malaysia’s 2nd 5G network won’t pass any costs on to consumers. He further revealed that the companies have provided assurances to him regarding this. 

Bernama quoted Fahmi as saying that all of the telcos’ CEOs have pledged commitments to not pass down any costs to consumers. Specifically, the CEOs have promised as such to him and the Ministry will hold them to their promise. 

On the subject matter, MCMC has been tasked with selecting a mobile network service provider to develop Malaysia's 2nd 5G network, commencing with the AIP (Application Information Package) process on 1 July. Fahmi stressed that the government is fully committed to ensuring that the dual-network model promotes healthy competition in the telecommunications sector while ensuring its sustainability and improving connectivity for the people.
