Fahmi Fadzil meets with Starlink, urges the company to open its offices in Malaysia

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today revealed that he had met with Starlink's Global Licensing and Market Activation director Rebecca Hunter at the Malaysian Pavillion at MWC 2024. During the meeting, he proposed for the SpaceX satellite internet service to open up its offices in our country. 

As reported by Bernama, Fahmi said that he urged Starlink to open its offices in Malaysia to facilitate transactions for those seeking their services within the country. He added that they also discussed with Starlink whether they would be willing to engage with Malaysian telco companies to provide direct-to-cell services. 

The Communications Minister said that there are more interesting aspects that are being discussed in many of his visits to the booths at MWC 2024. One of them is direct-to-cell which allows satellite communications directly to mobile phones.
