Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has revealed that a meeting with Meta has been scheduled for next month in Singapore during his Ministry’s official visit to the Republic. Furthermore, the meeting will also include representatives of other social media platforms.
According to Bernama, Fahmi said that the meeting will discuss, among other things, the MADANI Government’s commitment to combat fake news and disinformation. While no specific date was given, the Communications Minister said that the meeting will be held in mid-June.
Fahmi also hoped that Meta and other social media platforms would join the government’s effort to ensure online safety for children and families. He believes that Meta’s social media platforms are with the government on this matter.
