Based on a statement by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, all private information received during the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative are kept confidential by Khazanah Nasional Berhad. The aforementioned entity is a government-owned wealth and fund investment company, which does not operate similar to that of a private company.
Lim Guan Eng also noted that due to the fact that Khazanah Nasional Berhad is owned by the government, it already has all the information that is typically saved on an identification card. On another note, he mentioned that more than 800000 applicants had been approved with more than RM24 million distributed so far.
With that said, there’s still around RM426 million left to be sent out to all eligible citizens of Malaysia. If you need help in picking the right e-wallet to claim the e-Tunai Rakyat, head over to our previous coverage to find out which is the best platform for you.
