The launch of the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 series of APUs is expected to be announced soon. But before that, many have obviously been given the new processors to test and the results are starting to appear. Recently, a 3DMark benchmark score for one of AMD's upcoming chips appeared on Twitter.

According to _rogame, a frequent leaker of CPU-related news, an AMD Ryzen 4000 series (Renoir) APU scored 5659 on 3DMark 11. It was paired with a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC and DDR4 RAMs running at 2133MHz, which could be why the score isn't all that impressive. In fact, Notebookcheck pointed out that this score lags far behind benchmark results found for the mobile variants of the Ryzen 7 4700U (5713 points) and Ryzen 7 4800U (6309 points).

Of course, we also have to consider that this APU is most likely meant for more budget-oriented mainstream systems. For example, you could pair it with an AMD A520 motherboard with cheap 2666MHz RAMs for a system with decent performance at a relatively lower cost. However, since the exact model of the APU was not identified, it's hard to tell if this benchmark score proves it to be underwhelming or otherwise.

AMD has more or less cornered the enthusiast and desktop gamer market, but this year it really needs to look into improving its overall brand visibility.
