Recently, the Flexi Parking app was not able to make payments for parking, apparently due to cyber attacks. Vastly used across Selangor in 64 local councils, Flexi Parking have since announced that their “app service is now back online”. Previously, Selangor MB Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced that parking fees and fines in affected areas during the downtime would not be charged.

What happened, exactly?

While Flexi Parkings themselves have not mentioned any specific reason why, according to Pokde.net, a hacking group called MelayuSpiritual has claimed responsibility with access to 7 million Malaysians users' data. They also said that it could have been prevented by fixing 2 common vulnerabilities.

Regardless if it was with good intentions, such cyber attacks are still illegal but what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
