Health Minsiter Khairy Jamaluddin today announced a change to the travel requirements for all foreign tourists entering Malaysia. Beginning 1 August 2022, all travellers, whether Malaysians or foreigners will no longer need to complete the traveller’s card feature in the MySejahtera app

In a statement posted on the Ministry of Health's social media pages, Khairy said that the decision was made after taking into account how Malaysia's health system is now at a good and controlled level. Nevertheless, the Helath Minister stressed that his ministry will constantly intensify symptom monitoring activities among travellers at all international entry points in our country.

Furthermore, upon arrival at our country's international entry points, if the traveller is detected with a fever through a thermal scanner or is found to be unwell, they will be referred for re-examination by the health department. Should the traveller be suspected of having an infectious diseases such as Covid-19, monkeypox or others, they will be referred to a nearby health facility for examination and further treatment if necessary.

Besides that, Khairy also urged for all travellers arriving in Malaysia from overseas to practice self-monitoring and comply with the prescribed standard operating precedures (SOPs). If unwell, the Health Minister said that they should go for an examination at the nearest health facility.
