Looks like a change will happen soon within the DNB (Digital Nasional Berhad). A reliable source via StarBiz suggests Former PLUS Malaysia Bhd chief Datuk Azman Ismail could be appointed as the next CEO of DNB. The appointment could take place sometime around this week.
In case you didn’t know, DNB was established by the Ministry of Finance to drive the development of 5G infrastructure in Malaysia. Last September, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the position will be filled once the share subscription agreements (SSAs) between DNB and mobile network operators (MNOs) are finalised.
For your information, the CEO position at DNB has been vacant since last March. This happened when the former CEO, Augustus Ralph Marshall’s contract was discontinued. Interestingly, this appointment is happening as the 5G network provider is nearing the 80% 5G coverage target.
We have yet to confirm more details on this matter, and how this could affect Malaysia’s network and tech. We hope the new CEO could drive our beloved country to greater heights. Be it whoever it is.
