The Fossil Q

The Fossil Q series of smartwatches has been officially announced! There are actually four different Fossil Q models, the Q Reveler, Q Dreamer, Q Grant and Q Founder. The Q Founder smartwatch in particular was designed by Fossil’s watch team and engineered by Intel. These two powerhouses are not fooling around, it’s Fossil’s first ever smartwatch that runs on Android.  Here are the features that it has to offer:-

  • Compatible with both the Android and the iOS
  • An activity tracker that monitors your calories and steps
  • A wide range of customizable strap colours and materials (Q Reveler and Q Dreamer only)

Let's start with the Q Reveler and Q Dreamer first, these two fitness trackers are more affordable than the Q Grant and Q Founder pricing at $125 (RM535.06). Notifications will either nudge you gently or with a flash LED when you go jogging. It should be noted that the Q Reveler is for men and Q Dreamer is for women; the Reveler is the silver watch face and brown band or a black watch face and band in leather or silicon straps, while the Dreamer comes in silver and gold with eight different straps to choose from.

Never out of style

Now to the Q Grant, which costs $175 (RM 749.08) to $195 (RM834.69), and will also arrive on 25 October 2015 along with the Reveler and Dreamer. It's more or less the same with the Reveler and Dream, except that it’s capable of notifying you alerts with multiple colours representing different contacts, and it’s not customizable due to the classic Fossil watch face attached.

Who would want to change that classic Fossil look?

Lastly, the Q Founder is the pricey one among the four. Starting at $275 (RM1177.12), it’s a fully-fledged smartwatch so don’t expect it to be customizable. Strangely, the Founder has no release date but it’s expected to be released this coming “holiday season”.

All four Fossil Q models will be compatible with Fossil’s app the Q Activity, the Q Activity can connect with Google Fit, Health UP by Jawbone and UA Record by Under Armour. The smartwatch’s LED settings can be altered as well by the user on a certain person or notification type. There were no words on the battery life or Malaysia release dates and pricing details though.
