Framework laptop comes with modular parts for easier repairs

In the early days, most laptops came with removable bottom covers. This made it possible to replace the batteries yourself, or make their own repairs if they have the know-how. You don't get the same flexibility these days, but a company seeks to change that with a new repairable laptop.

This new company is called Framework, and it has unveiled the Fairphone-equivalent for laptops. The Framework laptop is a 13.5-inch laptop that comes with modular parts. You will be able to switch out damaged components or upgrade them if you want to. Interestingly, the product even ships with a screwdriver inside the box.

Quite a few of the components can be replaced

Framework's goal is to make a laptop that even a regular person can easily repair. For example, the display is covered with magnetic bezels, so you can easily remove them and replace the display. Besides that, you can also replace the battery, keyboard, SSD, RAM, and more. The only thing you can't replace is the 11th Gen Intel Core CPU.

It's a rather cool concept, though it's hard to say how many people would care about being able to do DIY repairs. Also, this is probably never going to be available in Malaysia.
