You can actually retune your frequency interfering device

Our previous explorations in Frequency Interference have clearly shown that supposed 2.4GHz devices like Wireless AV transmitters are actually interfering with the 2.3GHz spectrum assigned to telcos like P1. A closer look at the manual reveals that this isn't the manufacturer's fault as they clearly state that you should retune the settings for said devices. As such, it becomes the users full responsibility if SKMM enforcement should come knocking with up to RM500000 fees or 5 years imprisonment. However, all is not lost as you can retune your Wireless AV device quite easily. Check out how to do so in the video below:

How to retune your frequency interfering device:

  1. Find the settings switches or menu
  2. Change the settings so that it doesn't affect P1 services and the WiFi router.
  3. Restart the wireless AV device

While you can retune your devices, SKMM or the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has a Self Labelling Program to help ensure that you don't have to. The program may be directed more at manufacturers but normal consumers also benefit as it has resulted in the Check Your Label app which you can download from Google Play. Using this app you can check to see if the 2.4GHz device you're going to buy is actually authorized by SKMM to run with no frequency interference to existing telcos like P1.
