We’ve been hearing rumours about the next-generation Motorola Razr for a while now, with Lenovo (Motorola's parent company) executive, Chen Jin actually confirming late last year that a refresh to the foldable is currently in the works. Well, according to a new leak, the next Razr is just months away, potentially being released in July 2022 at the latest.

According to the leak shared by 91mobile, the next Razr smartphone will continue the iconic clamshell design but would have a more boxy aesthetic. In fact, based on an alleged photo of the upcoming device, the Razr looks more like the popular Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 than the original Razr.

Besides that, the leak also claimed that the upcoming smartphone is known internally with the codename ‘Maven’. It’s unsure whether Motorola would be calling the foldable that officially or sticking with the Razr branding, though the latter is more likely.

Specs-wise, the leak said that it would have two variants; one powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and another with the yet-to-be-announced successor of the chipset by Qualcomm. It may also have either 8 or 12GB of RAM with options for 256 or 512GB internal storage.

The leak further asserted that the main display will have FHD+ resolution and a a small display on the outside like the previous version. Camera-wise, it’s touted to feature a 50MP f/1.8 primary together with a 13MP ultra-wide and macro sensor hybrid.

Moreover, the upcoming Razr is also claimed to come in either a Quartz Black or Tranquil Blue colour options. However, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.
