Combining the power of a DSLR with a compact lightweight body, the Fujifilm X-M1 mirrorless DSLR camera has just been announced along with the XC 16-50mm OIS lens. Driven by a large 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS and EXR Processor II featured in the higher-end X-Pro1, the X-M1 brings a number of new innovations with it. Thanks to twin electronic control dials and smaller body, the DSLR can be used one-handed with relative ease along with WiFi wireless image transfer to your computer or mobile devices. Other notable features include:

  • 3.0-inch 920K-dot Tilt LCD screen
  • versatile interchangeable lenses (including the XC 16-50mm OIS lens)
  • Start-up time of 0.5secs, shutter lag of 0.05secs and a maximum burst speed of 5.6fps (max. 30 frames)
  • 49 point AF
  • 8 Advanced Filters plus 5 Film Simulation modes
  • ISO200-6400 in 1/3 step increments (and extended range of ISO 12800 to 24600 at reduced resolution)
  • Full HD Video recording at 30fps
  • Built-in Super i-Flash
  • In-camera RAW processing
  • Q button
  • Hot shoe
  • 117 x 67 x 39 mm | 330g

The XC 16-50mm OIS lens is available with the DSLR during launch for $799 (RM2566) but you can get the camera body alone for $699 (RM2245). This much lower price point should make it more accessible while delivering premium features on par with more expensive DSLRs like the X-Pro1. It should be available in Malaysia sometime in or after July 2013. For more detailed information and tech specs check out the Fujifilm site or take a look at the video below:
