Recently, Tidal announced that fully AI-generated music on the platform will now be given a label. At the same time, music without any human involvement will not receive any royalties from streaming on Tidal. Therefore, any music that imitates the artist's style will be removed. You will also be given the option to filter out AI-generated music entirely from appearing in the app.

The internet is full of AI-generated music these days

To recap, the flood of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated music on streaming platforms is impacting human artists who can't compete with machines that can generate hundreds more every day. Major streaming platforms are being urged to label AI-generated music so that users can choose to support only human artists.

On other music platforms, Spotify introduced the Verified by Spotify label last month to distinguish human artists from AI-generated ones. However, AI artists can still earn royalties. Ironically, Deezer have an automated AI music detection system that is reducing the impact caused by the overwhelming number of AI-generated music on the platform.

A step in the right direction

Personally, we feel this is a step in the right direction for human artists and performers, especially for singers and artists from Malaysia. After all, human arts and performances will always hold a more significant meaning compared to the shallow and clean ones made by AI. What are your thoughts on the news?
