Based on a statement by TSMC, it seems that they are currently working on 5nm and 6nm process which will not only increase the performance of the chipset, but also make it much more energy-efficient. But that’s not all, they’ve also confirmed that 3nm and 4nm manufacturing process is currently in development and it is expected to enter mass production somewhere around the year 2022.
While not much information is known with regards to which smartphones will the 5nm or 6nm chips, we do know that a 2nm research and design centre is currently being built in order to continue innovating on chips. However, there is no estimate on when the 2nm chips will be available on consumer electronics so don’t hold your breath.
With all that said, would you be interested in getting a smartphone equipped with a chipset that was manufactured in either a 3nm or 4nm process? Let us know on our Facebook page and for more updates like this, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
