Just a few hours ago, GSC announced that its theatre halls would have their own IMAX technology. Not only that but the IMAX will have laser technology which is a first in Malaysia.
No date announcement has been given, but this will be the most advanced IMAX technology by a Malaysian cinema. Not much is known about IMAX with laser but it should project brighter and more colourful visual content on the big screen. According to sources, 3D movies should perform rather well on IMAX with laser technology.
Sources also say that the first IMAX with laser theatre hall could be launched in Putrajaya, in line with an upcoming movie - Avatar: The Way of the Water in IMAX 3D format. For those who don't know, TGV also offers IMAX halls, whereas GSC provides Onyx halls whereby the screen is made of OLED.
