Of all the mobile games, we never thought Free Fire would win the Mobile Game of the Year at the Esports Awards 2020. In case you didn't know, Free Fire is a mobile game developed by 111Studios, published by Garena and it has been around for three years.

In the 2020 Esport Mobile Game of the Year category, there were other favourites and heavy contenders as well. This includes Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars. It was also noted that this is the first-ever mobile game category presented by the Esports Award.

During the award, Free Fire Producer, Harold Teo from Garena said that the company is truly "humbled and honoured" for winning the award. He also went on to dedicate the win and thank the fans, players and partners for bringing the mobile game to new heights. Free Fire is a battle royale game like PUBG Mobile, but it seems to be more popular in India.

Mobile games certainly proved as a force to be reckoned with, as more Asian people relied on them for entertainment during the pandemic. What are your favourite mobile games? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
