If you're a Garmin user and have been experiencing issues from their servers and services, you're not alone. It turned out that the company was under cyber attack for a week since 23 July and this affected their website, customer support, apps and others. Today, Garmin Malaysia just tweeted that their server systems are back to operation (but not all, though).
So that's the good news, but was any data stolen? According to the company's statement, they have "no indication that any customer data, including payment information from Garmin Pay, was accessed, lost or stolen". That said, Garmin Pay is not available in Malaysia so that's fine but as for other Garmin apps, Garmin also said they were not affected, although it will take some time to access online so do be patient on that.
While the data information is being processed as we speak, Garmin also expected that there should be some delays. So with that, it should take a few days for every Garmin system to be restored 100% before the customers can start using it back again. At the moment, only Garmin Aviation systems are back to normal and if you would like to check whether Garmin Connect is restored, you can visit the link here to monitor them.
