Have you been buying stuff during the pandemic? Well, you know that yourself but according to Gartner, a leading research and advisory company, they reported that there's a drop of 20.4% of smartphone sales in Q2 2020.

While there are many smartphone brands around the world, Gartner only included a few brands such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and "others". From the table graph below, both Samsung and Xiaomi have the most drops in sales comparing with their 2Q19 units sold last year, whereas the rest are still maintaining the figures. However, the market share tells a different story, Huawei's performance improved the most over the months, alongside Apple and OPPO.

Gartner also noted that the “demand for its flagship S Series (Samsung) smartphones did little to revive its smartphone sales globally", whereas Huawei has China backing the company up with the performance sales thanks to the "aggressive product" marketing on 5G connectivity. On the other hand, “Apple’s iPhone sales fared better in the quarter than most smartphone vendors in the market and also grew sales quarter-over-quarter,” thanks to the iPhone SE.

Besides that, Gartner further reported that there is a 7% decline in smartphone sales from the Chinese market during Q2 2020, and India has the worst record with a 46% decline due to the lockdown (including online sales).
