Geeksphone Revolution offers dual-OS smartphone (Android / Firefox OS)

While the Geeksphone Revolution looks like a good but rather generic smartphone, what marks it apart is the ability to instantly switch between the standard Android operating system with Firefox OS. The Spanish company doesn't offer that much in terms of technical details but they do say that you can switch between the two operating systems at any time using a graphical interface and not a hardware switch. The system will be called the 1-click OTA system. What makes it really interesting is that the smartphone can also switch to another operating system asides from the Firefox OS for smartphones, which could mean a possible Android / Windows Phone dual-OS smartphone in the future. Tech specs for the Geeksphone Revolution include:

  • 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor
  • 4.7-inch IPS LCD
  • 1GB LPDDR2 RAM
  • 4GB Storage + 32GB microSD support
  • 8MP rear camera (LED flash) + 2MP front camera
  • supports WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, AGPS
  • 2000 mAh battery

So far, there isn't any Malaysia pricing or Malaysia release dates just yet. We expect the Geeksphone Revolution to probably stay in Europe for now, or at least until Microsoft (or some other desperate smartphone maker) decides to buy-out the company.
