At the Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 this week, Geely revealed its new Star Wish EV at the event. From the images, it is a small-sized EV model, which is said to share some similarities with the upcoming Proton e.Mas 5 that will launch in Malaysia.
For the uninitiated, Proton and Geely are strategic partners, so this is why the e.Mas 5 could look like the Geely Star Wish. Proton may introduce its own version to the local market, as the Star Wish is designed for driving in the city. According to sources, the Geely Star Wish is available in a driving range of between 310 km and 410 km, so there are a couple of models.
The Proton e.Mas 5 could be an important step in the local automative industry for Malaysia. For a few years, the Malaysian government has been pushing for environmentally friendly vehicles. There is also an increasing demand for EVs during these few months, which is a good sign of the green-movement progress.
Proton has yet to announce anything related to the alleged e.Mas 5 EV in Malaysia. So for now, let's just wait and see when the company will say anything.
