Looks like your “healing” trip might get a little pricier. Yesterday, Sin Chew Daily via FMT confirmed that there will be a toll on the way up to Genting Highland. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, the toll gantries under construction at Gohtong Jaya has confirmed our assumptions. According to Sin Chew Daily, a spokesperson from Lingkaran Cekap has confirmed the rumours about tolls leading up to Genting Highland. In case you didn’t know, Lingkaran Cekap is the company that manages the road to Genting Highlands.

Interestingly, the Lingkaran Cekap company is 49.4% owned by Genting. This company is responsible for handling toll operations, maintenance and so forth. Pictures of the rumoured toll plaza made their way to the internet and sparked a lot of conversation among netizens. Thankfully, the upcoming toll works the same as the toll on Penang Bridge, where you only have to pay on the way in.

As of now, the spokesperson confirmed that the price range won’t be around RM2.50 to RM3.00. She also confirmed the toll won’t arrive in June 2024. The spokesperson also added that the cost will cover maintenance as well:

“Lingkaran Cekap is in charge of Genting’s roadworks, which include maintaining slopes, landslides, clearing fallen trees, trimming wild grass, maintaining sewage and streetlight systems and, most importantly, maintaining roads,”
