Recently, we mentioned that Malaysia have temporarily banned Grok. Now, generating pornographic images is a crime in the UK. That said, what should you know about it?

New laws will be drafted soon

For your information, the United Kingdom government has announced that the generation of pornographic images using artificial intelligence, particularly without the consent of an individual, is a criminal offence in the country.

Additionally, Liz Kendall, Technology Secretary, also said that new laws will be drafted to ban technology companies operating in the country from producing software and services that can produce such images or video manipulation.

Moreover, the UK communications commission, Ofcom, recently also conducted an investigation into X for allowing Grok to produce pornographic images and videos without considering the safety issues of the social media platform's users.

This legislative update to the Data Act has been under discussion and approval since June 202, and will finally come into force this week. The legislation can also be used under the Online Safety Act, which makes it a serious offence to produce obscene images and videos.
